The Strauss Center’s Climate Change and African Political Stability program has initiated a new Working Paper Series, publishing full-length working papers on research underway in the program.  The publication series aims to convey ongoing program research regularly to the policy and research communities.

Strauss Center Senior Fellow Philip Bobbitt poses twelve complex national security questions to the presidential candidates. Without understanding how each candidate approaches and analyzes problems, and without understanding how those approaches differ, Bobbitt cautions that, whoever wins the election, the mandate for leading the country will be fragile at best.

Ambassador Robert S. Strauss receives citation

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin has selected Dr. William W. Cooper, Dr. Stephen A. Monti, Robert S. Strauss and Sara Martinez Tucker to receive the prestigious Presidential Citation for 2008.  William Powers Jr., president of the university, will present the Presidential Citation and other major university awards to recipients in a ceremony later in the academic year.

Strauss Center Selected as Host of European Union Center of Excellence

AUSTIN, Texas – The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law at The University of Texas at Austin has been selected by the European Commission as the host of a new European Union Center of Excellence. The Strauss Center will receive nearly €300,000 over three years to pursue research and studies on how the European Union and the United States are responding to problems created by globalization.
