The Houston Chapter of the Next Generation Project Texas held its inaugural regional meeting on May 3rd. The Strauss Center was pleased to welcome Congressman Pete Olson, U.S. Representative for the 22nd District of Texas, as the lunchtime speaker.

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law at the University of Texas at Austin was pleased to welcome Senator Wendy Davis to SMU's Faculty Club on Monday, March 3rd. This was the first regional event for the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the Next Generation Project Texas. Wendy Davis is the Texas State Senator for District 10, which serves a large portion of Tarrant County in North Texas.

AJ Swope, Fellow and Executive Director of Class 4 Winds & Renewables, was recently featured in the opinions section of the Amarillo Globe-News.  He argues that the potential failure by Congress to extend wind energy's Production Tax Credit (PTC) could be a detriment to current and future wind energy projects. 

John Losinger, Fellow and Principal at Public Strategies Inc., was recently featured on McCuistion TV, a show on PBS affiliate KERA that is currently highlighting energy issues.  John served on a panel with Texas energy giants Dr. Bernard Weinstein, Adjunct Professor of Economics and Associate Director of the Maguire Energy Institute at SMU, and Russel Smith, Executive Director of Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association. 

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is pleased to announce a call for applications for the third annual Next Generation Scholars program, a unique research and mentorship program for University of Texas undergraduate students. This is a one-year program, beginning in September 2012, which will match each selected student with a Strauss Center Distinguished Scholar who will serve as a mentor to the student in the awarded year.
