Malawi Geocoded and Climate Aid Dataset
CCAPS and AidData have piloted work in collaboration with the Government of Malawi, geocoding and climate coding all active development aid projects in Malawi from all donors in all sectors. Data are currently available for projects committed to Malawi from 1990 to present.

World Bank Climate Aid Dataset
This dataset is based on analysis of detailed project documentation for World Bank projects in Sub-Saharan Africa that were approved from 2008 to 2012. Using the CCAPS climate-coding methodology piloted in Malawi, the CCAPS team used a combination of Project Appraisal Documents (PAD), Project Information Documents (PID), and Integrated Safeguards Data Sheet (ISDS) to assign climate scores to all activities in a project. All climate-relevant projects with adequate documents were then geocoded using the AidData/Uppsala methodology. In total, 615 projects were climate coded across 40 countries, representing $37.2 billion of commitments by the World Bank over five years and 192 climate-relevant projects were geocoded. This dataset is an effort to provide a deeper understanding of climate aid and finance strategies by one large donor across Sub-Saharan Africa.
