The Strauss Center's CCAPS program has initiated a new Policy Brief Series, publishing short papers on research underway in the program.  The series aims to convey ongoing program research regularly to the policy and research communities.  The program is releasing several briefs in the series in September 2010, including "International Development Assistance for Climate Change Adaptation in Africa: The Aid Scramble," written by Catherine Weaver and Christian Peratsakis.

In this policy brief, CCAPS researcher Catherine Weaver and Graduate Research Assistant Christian Peratsakis address the need for clearer, better managed tracking of adaptation aid in Africa.  The authors see hope for this in AidData, a new independent, open-source database for tracking international development finance flows.  The forthcoming fall 2010 release of AidData 2.0—and the CCAPS program’s collaboration with AidData to code adaptation aid—represent the most comprehensive and reliable resource for tracking development financing for climate change adaptation in Africa.

The publication is available online here.  To order a hard copy, contact the CCAPS program at 512-471-6267 or info@strausscenter.org.  Please reference the document title and publication date.
