A Brave New World: Meeting the Global Challenges of the 21st Century

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law held its inaugural conference, A Brave New World: Meeting the Global Challenges of the 21st Century on Wednesday, October 3 from 2:30 p.m. ” 5:15 p.m. in the Thompson Conference Center Auditorium.

The first panel, From “International” to “Global”: How Globalization Is Transforming Our World, was moderated by Dr. James M. Lindsay, Director of the Strauss Center. Panelists included:

James B. Steinberg, Dean, Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs
Kristen Silverberg, Assistant Secretary of State, Bureau of International Organization Affairs
Heidi Cruz, Vice President, Investment Management Division, Goldman, Sachs & Co.

The second panel, Bridging the Gap: The Contribution of Universities in Global Policymaking, was moderated by Dr. Frank Gavin, Director of Studies for the Strauss Center.  Panelists included:

Terri Givens, Vice Provost, The University of Texas
Admiral Bob Inman, Lyndon B. Johnson Centennial Chair in National Policy
Jim Langdon, Partner, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP
