On Monday, October 14, 2019, Dr. Andrew March, Associate Professor of Political Science at UMass Amherst, will give a talk as part of the Strauss Center's Brumley Speaker Series.


As a Berggruen Fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University, Dr. Andrew March’s research and teachings focus on political philosophy, Islamic law and political thought, religion and political theory. Before Harvard, Dr. March taught for ten years in Yale University’s Political Science Department, and has taught Islamic Law at Yale and NYU law schools. As a Marshall Scholar and graduate of Oxford University, Dr. March published his book, Islam and Liberal Citizenship (Oxford University Press, 2009). Winner of the 2009 Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion from the American Academy of Religion, his book explores Islamic juridical discourse on the rights and obligations of Muslim minorities in liberal polities.
