The Mexico Security Initiative (MSI) accepts proposals for independent security-focused research projects. These projects should be in line with MSI’s objective to spur research into the causes, dimensions, and consequences of the violence as well as the adequacy of past, present, and potential Mexican policy responses and cooperation with the United States.

Proposals should answer the following questions:

  • Project’s relevance for Mexico's security policy or U.S.-Mexico security cooperation
  • Location of project and estimated timeline
  • Description of deliverables
  • Preliminary budget

All types of project proposals will be considered. Previously accepted projects have included academic research papers, policy working papers and memos, and field research. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and should be sent to Stephanie Leutert at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
