Scholar Will Inboden on Chen Guangcheng

Strauss Scholar Will Inboden discussed Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng in an interview with Marco Werman of PRI’s the World.  Initially, Inboden claimed he wanted to give the Obama Administration the benefit of the doubt for its handlings of Chen’s case, but he has recently become concerned for Chen’s outcome.

Strauss Scholar Alan Kuperman Gives Talk on Humanitarian Intervention in Libya

Strauss Center Distinguished Scholar Alan Kuperman gave a talk at the University of Oxford on April 24th entitled Intervention in Libya: A Humanitarian Success? as part of their Ethics, Law, and Armed Conflict series. Kuperman discussed the implications of NATO intervention in Libya and provided his assessment of whether this event was a humanitarian success.

LBJ Students Award Strauss Scholars in Faculty Appreciation Ceremony

Where Are Donors Working in Malawi? A New Dataset Sheds Light

This week, CCAPS and AidData published a first-of-its-kind geocoded dataset from the Government of Malawi’s Aid Management Platform. These data are also available through the CCAPS mapping tool, which enables users to overlay and visualize data on climate change vulnerability, conflict, and aid, and analyze how these issues intersect in Africa.
