The application period for the 2013-2014 Next Generaion Scholars program is now closed; we are no longer accepting any applications.

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Next Generation Scholars program, a unique research and mentorship program for University of Texas undergraduate students.

This is a one-year program, beginning in September 2013, which will match each selected student with a Strauss Center Distinguished Scholar who will serve as a mentor to the student in the awarded year. Students selected for the NGS program will also receive a $500 stipend to use towards his or her own independent research, study abroad program, internship, or travel to a professional conference.

Students will have the opportunity to interact with the Strauss Center's Distinguished Scholars, present their own research, develop analytical and writing skills appropriate to their global policy interests, and work directly with the Strauss Center's faculty on their own professional development goals.

The Next Generation Scholars will also participate in the Strauss Center's Next Generation Project Texas, which brings together the best and brightest talent from around the state to engage in discussions on global policy issues.

Students must plan to be registered UT undergraduate students during the academic year 2013-2014, and should have a GPA of at least 3.50.

Applications should include:

(1) A detailed cover letter that explains your individual academic and professional interests and why you are interested in participating in the intellectual life of the Strauss Center, an interdisciplinary research center devoted to policy-relevant work related to issues of international security, global governance and law, socioeconomic and human development, technology, energy, and the environment.

(2) Resume with your complete contact information (including email address and phone number) and the names and the contact information of two references (one of whom should be a faculty member who can speak to your academic abilities and potential).

(3) One unofficial college transcript
