Adam Materne is entering the first year in the Global Policy Studies program at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. His focus is on emerging security dynamics and complex emergencies in South and Southeast Asia. Adam has previous occupational experience in multiple fields, including military civil engineering, construction management, and military and para-military security operations, and investigations and performance auditing. As part of his research, Adam built a dataset to track misconduct trends among private military contractors. Adam hopes to pursue a career in defense policy development, specifically focusing on improving efficiency and accountability in the defense apparatus.
