Matthew Batten-Carew is pursuing an MA in European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at Carleton University and holds an MA in Geopolitics & Grand Strategy from the University of Sussex and a BA in Global Politics, also from Carleton. Matt has worked on policy development in the public and private sectors, including for the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development, and works currently in geopolitical analysis as a Contributing Analyst with the geo-strategic forecasting firm WikiStrat. He is also currently engaged in an internship with CLIC Consultants, an international management consulting company, focusing on improving governance and strengthening accountability. Matt’s research interests lie in regional organizations and security, and particularly the evolution of regionalism in West Africa and Central Asia.
