Talia Potochny

Cyber Fellow |

Pennsylvania native Talia Potochny is in the first year of her MS in Information Studies at UT Austin. Her interests within information include cybersecurity, intelligence, data visualization, and human-computer interactions. During her undergraduate degree, she studied geography and geographic information science (GIS) at Penn State in the Schreyer Honors College. For the past four years, she worked in education technology and fell in love with the applications of emerging technology–especially virtual and augmented reality–in education. After teaching 6-14 how to code, create 3D models, design digital art, produce digital music, and curate videos–all over Zoom–Talia realized she did not want to continue a career in education technology. Instead, she aims to combine her skills in IT and geography background to contribute to a career in national security. Talia hopes to work in D.C. in intelligence after graduating from UT. In her free time, Talia enjoys outdoor activities like snowboarding, hiking, and kayaking, and spending time with friends and family.
