The Visiting Scholars and Fellows program embodies one of the most important ways in which the Strauss Center fulfills the part of its mission that emphasizes bringing the world to Texas and Texas to the world. By drawing the best and brightest of both established and emerging scholars to our campus, this program creates an opportunity for these scholars to contribute their research, teaching, and presence on a direct and sustained basis. In addition to generally enriching the University, visiting scholars and fellows can provide direct support to particular programs of preexisting emphasis for the Strauss Center—though there is something to be said, as well, for those who instead bring novel interests and expertise to the table.
The Strauss Center has three distinct pathways to hosting such visitors. First, we will periodically support pre-doctoral fellows to work in residence at the Strauss Center. Second, we will periodically support one or more substantial post-doctoral fellowships. And third, our doors are also open to visiting scholars who are established in practice or academia but have the opportunity to be away from their usual positions for a time.
