In a recent op-ed for The Diplomat, Brumley Fellow Harry Kim discusses the possible scenarios of North Korean military provocation during the South Korean Winter Olympics in February 2018.

Based on past experiences, Kim argues that, while Seoul sees its first Winter Olympics as an opportunity to engage with North Kore and to contribute to stability within the region, Kim Jong-Un is expected to utilize the international sporting event to demonstrate North Korea‚Äôs power. 

Harry Kim is a second-year Master of Global Policy Studies candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. His areas of interest include East Asian security, missile defense, and nuclear nonproliferation policy. As a Brumley Next Generation Graduate Fellow in the Strauss Center's Understanding China program, he is paired with LBJ School Assistant Professor Joshua Eisenman.
