Busby, Hendrix, and Moran Contribute to Report on Climate Change and Security
Sep 26, 2016 | State Fragility
Strauss Center Distinguished Scholar Joshua Busby, Senior Fellow Cullen Hendrix, and State Fragility Initiative Director Ashley Moran, recently participated in the compilation of a climate and security briefing book for the next presidential administration.
As part of the Climate and Security Advisory Group, Busby, Hendrix, and Moran contributed to a report that calls on America’s next leaders to “comprehensively address the security risks” associated with climate change, and their recommendations include the assignment of a cabinet-level position for climate change risk and security issues. Moreover, the Advisory Group recommends adding climate change-related positions to the offices of the National Security Advisor and Secretary of Defense, and prioritizing climate change in intelligence assessments.
