Alan Kuperman, Distinguished Scholar for the Strauss Center, was quoted in a CNN.com story on the reasons behind a drawn-out conflict in Libya.  Kuperman believes that NATO and the White House assumed that the Libyan people were united against Gadhafi but that just wasn't so.  

"In reality, Libya is divided along lines of clan and tribe, some of whom benefit greatly from Gadhafi."
