Strauss Center Distinguished Scholar and CEPSA researcher Dr. Michael Findley recently organized and participated in a hackathon using data to address the challenges of peace process implementation.

The “Data4Peace” hackathon was held in Bogota, Colombia and focused on the implementation of the final peace agreement signed between the FARC-EP and the Colombian government. This event was jointly sponsored by Universidad de los Andes, Cifras y Conceptos, and the University of Texas at Austin, and took place from May 10-12, 2017. The goal of the workshop was to discuss the core challenges and opportunities. A diverse set of actors from academia, as well as local, regional, national, and international authorities collected and analyzed data on territorial security, political participation, disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration to produce concrete public policy recommendations based on primarily quantitative evidence.
