Bart Lauwers is the Security Operations Manager for the City of Austin, leading incident response, threat intelligence, and digital forensics initiatives. With three decades of experience, he’s driving strategic transformation and robust security programs across global firms, startups, and the public sector.

Previously, Bart was the Lead Enterprise Architect at Austin Energy, driving digital transformation towards a zero-trust software-defined infrastructure. He’s held C-suite positions at SignaCert, TxDOT, Netmining, and Cisco, spearheading technology innovations and global projects.

Bart holds a Master of Science degree in Advanced Information Technology & Business Management from the University of Wales, UK, a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University, and industry certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO), Certified in Governance, Risk and Compliance (CGRC), and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

As a committed mentor and contributor to the cybersecurity industry, Bart has served on several advisory boards and volunteered his expertise to Austin Community College, the Society for Information Management, and the (ISC)² Austin Chapter, at which his contributions to the field were recognized through the (ISC)² President’s Award. He enjoys spending time with his favorite person, traveling, cooking, and scuba diving.
