The Next Generation Project, led by Strauss Center Director of Studies Frank Gavin, is The American Assembly’s ambitious, nonpartisan, multiyear initiative involving three-day Assemblies held in regions of emerging economic and political power and importance to the nation.

The Midwest Assembly focused on crafting innovative solutions for the future, based on previous Assemblies held across the country that identified global challenges an opportunities in the 21st century. The Next Generation Fellows noted the effect of globalization on the pace, depth and breadth of change in the world. Though the process of globalization has created anxiety, economic dislocation and other issues, the Fellows believe a shared national vision can be created through a broadened global policy, leveraging traditional as well as decentralized organization to link the public sector, private entities and non-governmental actors to governments and international institutions.
