On Friday, April 28, John Thornton, Director of the Global Leadership Program at Tsinghua University in Beijing and former president of Goldman Sachs, will lead a conversation about navigating the future of US-China Relations. The conversation will be moderated by JR DeShazo, Dean of the LBJ School of Public Affairs. The event is hosted by David Vanden Bout, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Don Fussell, Chair of the Department of Computer Science, Amir Husain, founder and CEO of Sparkcognition, and Zaib Husain, founder of Makerarm.

Biography

John Thornton is a professor at and Director of the Global Leadership Program at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He retired as former president and Co-Chief Operating Officer of the Goldman Sachs Group in 2003 and became the Director and Chief of the Finance Board for Intel. Among other positions, he is a director of the Ford Motor Company, the News Corporation, and the Pacific Century Group, Inc., and Chairman of the Brookings Institution Board of Trustees. His gift established the John F. Thornton China Center at Brookings to inform policy makers in the United States and in China regarding challenges facing China, and their implications globally.
