Pandemic Response in East Asia and Implications for U.S. Global Leadership

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law and the Center for Health and Social Policy invite you to Pandemic Response in East Asia and Implications for U.S. Global Leadership with Yanzhong Huang, Senior Fellow for Global Health, Council on Foreign Relations, on Monday, November 29 at 5:15 pm in Sid Richardson Hall, 3.122. Refreshments will be served.

Dr. Yanzhong Huang will give an overview of East Asia’s pandemic, control and prevention measures and outline the policy response in East Asia toward the 2009 pandemic. He will assess the region’s approach to pandemic control and containment and the implications on U.S. global health leadership.

As senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Yanzhong Huang has written extensively on global health governance, health diplomacy, health security and public health in China and East Asia.  He is an associate professor and director of global health studies at Seton Hall University’s John C. Whitehead School of Diplomacy and International Relations, where he developed the first academic concentration among U.S. professional schools of international affairs that explicitly addresses the security and foreign policy aspects of health issues.  He is frequently consulted by major media outlets, the private sector, governmental and nongovernmental organizations on global health issues.
