On Thursday, April 24, the Strauss Center for International Security and the School of Law’s Business Law Program hosted Heather Grenier, Apple’s Head of Litigation and alumna of The University of Texas at Austin’s School of Law. She shared insights into her career journey and what it takes to thrive as a junior in-house lawyer. This discussion provided a practical guide to excelling in corporate law, and covered topics that often go beyond the classroom—such as earning the trust of senior attorneys, navigating complex legal landscapes, and developing the diplomacy needed to align diverse stakeholders.

She offered a behind-the-scenes look at litigation in the technology industry, including the types of cases that arise, key areas of law, and the real-world distribution of legal matters in a global company like Apple. With a background in international law and firsthand experience climbing the ranks from a junior lawyer, her event focused on how to build credibility, sharpen legal skills, and establish a strong foundation for a successful in-house career.
