Akhil Mittal is a Specialist Director of Cybersecurity at KPMG. Throughout his career, he has collaborated closely with CISOs and executive leadership to design and implement robust security frameworks and software solutions aligned with strategic business goals. His expertise spans a wide array of cybersecurity domains, including penetration testing, supply chain security, DevSecOps, cloud security, AI/ML security, GRC, zero trust strategy, NIST CSF, IoT security, and managed security testing services.

Akhil lhas led talented teams of cybersecurity professionals, supporting leading banks, national retailers, and enterprises in securing applications and software development processes. His certifications include CISSP, CCSP, DevSecOps Professional, AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AZ-900 – Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and Professional Scrum Master. He has conducted multiple BSIMM assessments to evaluate and improve software security maturity and played a crucial role in designing and delivering strategic security solutions for various clients.

Akhil’s thought leadership is reflected in his numerous publications on cybersecurity topics, including articles in the International Journal of Computer Applications and contributions to enhancing customer service chatbots and predictive maintenance for industrial systems. As a peer reviewer, Akhil has reviewed papers for the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, the Cloud Security Alliance, and several other reputable journals. He serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Computer Techniques and the content advisory panel for ISC2. He has also contributed to exam development workshops for ISC2 in creating and revising exam items for CISSP certification.

Akhil has been recognized as a Gartner Peer Ambassador and serves as an ISSIP Ambassador and a NIST Cybersecurity Career Ambassador. He has been selected for the Microsoft TEALS program to support classroom teachers. Additionally, Akhil has served as a judge for the Titan Business Awards, Globee Technology Awards, Technovation, and various hackathons including NextStep Hacks 2024, Next Top Blockchain Startup and HackMIT, where he evaluated innovative projects and mentored young entrepreneurs globally.
