James Nettesheim is a seasoned cybersecurity executive, serving as the Chief Information Security Officer at Block, Inc., where he leads Information Security and Enterprise Technology, helping to build technology that drives economic empowerment. His expertise spans a wide range of cybersecurity domains, from threat detection and response to the strategic implementation and engineering of security protocols across diverse technology environments. James has an extensive background in security and technology. He began his career as an Information Security Engineer with the United States Government. He has since led global security and privacy incident response at Google, advised cryptocurrency startups, led incident response engagements as a consultant for Mandiant, and served as a Forensic Investigator for the United Nations.

An active contributor to the cybersecurity community, James frequently shares insights and developments through various platforms. He is especially passionate about mentoring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.

Having grown up in a military family, James has lived all over the world and now resides in Austin, TX. He enjoys golf, travel, and exploring new experiences with his wife and two children.
