Urban Resilience to Climate Change in Africa
Aug 6, 2013 | CCAPSMetropolitan Governance
Graduate students in Dr. Robert Wilson’s Policy Research Project present research on the capacity of local governments to respond to the impacts of climate change. Students traveled to select African cities “including Accra, Ghana; Alexandria, Egypt; Cape Town, South Africa; Casablanca, Morocco; Dakar, Senegal; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Kampala, Uganda; Luanda, Angola; and Maputo, Mozambique” to conduct field research and interviews in order to identify the factors that explain the variation in capacity across different types of disaster reduction and mitigation systems and across metropolitan areas.
