Greitens Discusses Xi Jingping and Security Challenges in Foreign Affairs

Dr. Sheena Chestnut Greitens, founding director of the Asia Policy Program, was recently published in Foreign Affairs. Dr. Greitens argues the security challenges posed by Xi’s Global Security Initiative (GSI), through which the Chinese Communist Party aim to revise global and regional security governance to more closely align with its regime security interests. Beijing’s “prevention and control” methods that penetrate civil society and extend the Chinese Communist Party’s influence abroad is a new Chinese approach to foreign policy, an approach which the United States should not underestimate.
