Strauss Center to Partner with the Woodrow Wilson Center

September 13, 2012

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Nuclear Proliferation International History Project.

The Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) is a global network of individuals and institutions engaged in the study of international nuclear history. Funded by a generous grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the NPIHP seeks to better understand global nuclear history by supporting archival research, training the next generation of scholars, and contributing to critical policy debates on our nuclear future. The NPIHP fits perfectly with the Strauss Center’s mission of producing cutting edge, interdisciplinary scholarship to help us solve our most pressing global challenges.

Strauss Center Director Francis J. Gavin has participated in the NPIHP’s Nuclear Boot Camp several times and is already a Senior Advisor on the project. Solidifying the partnership was a natural next step.

“I am excited for the opportunities that this partnership will bring,” said Dr. Gavin, “The way that this innovative program uses an understanding of history to inform the way policy practitioners make decisions is essential for wise and effective national security statecraft.”

The Robert S. Strauss Center for International Security and Law is a nonpartisan research center at The University of Texas at Austin dedicated to promoting policy-relevant scholarship on the problems and opportunities created by our increasingly globalized and interconnected world.
