October 18, 2023

The Strauss Center’s Applied Cybersecurity Community Clinic at the University of Texas at Austin is receiving $500,000 in grant funding and additional support from Google’s Cybersecurity Clinics Fund to expand operations. The funding from Google.org, the company’s philanthropic arm, is part of a $20 million collaboration with the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics that Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced in June of this year.

In addition to grant funding, Google is offering the University of Texas at Austin volunteer mentorship from Google employees, Google Titan Security Keys, and scholarships for the new Google Career Certificate in Cybersecurity.

University cybersecurity clinics provide free security services to their communities. The Strauss Center Applied Cybersecurity Community Clinic gives University of Texas students the opportunity to learn and improve their practical cybersecurity skills, while helping to protect critical infrastructure, community organizations, and small businesses in Central Texas.
