Texas Cybersecurity Clinic students, Sarah Ding and Jen Kim, were awarded the inaugural Texas Cybersecurity Clinic Excellence Award in honor of their performance in the Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 cohort of the Clinic. This award is made possible through the generosity of Socium Solutions. The Strauss Center for International Security and Law extends special thanks to Tam Nguyen, Chief Executive Officer at Socium Solutions, and Jeffrey Baker, Chief Technology Officer at Socium Solutions and Clinic Senior Industry Expert Mentor, for spearheading this effort in support of students in the Clinic!

The Texas Cybersecurity Clinic is a two-course sequence that trains students in key cybersecurity defense concepts and skills, and then pairs students with Texas-area institutions in need of cybersecurity support. This year, Sarah and Jen went above and beyond. Through their dedication, continuous learning, and trips to the client organizations alongside their teammates, they became not only defenders of their client’s environment, but trusted partners to their client organizations.

Sarah Ding is pursuing her Bachelor’s in Informatics with a concentration in Human-Centered Data Science, a minor in Business, and a certificate in Elements of Computing. Jen is majoring in Informatics with a concentration in Human-Centered Data Science, minoring in Risk Management, and earning a Certificate in Elements of Computing.
