Catherine Word is a junior studying International Relations and Global Studies and Psychology, with minors in French and Arabic. Raised in a small town in the Texas Panhandle, she joined the Cybersecurity Clinic out of a commitment to helping communities that fall below the cyber poverty line and are often overlooked in discussions of digital security and resilience. Her academic and professional interests sit at the intersection of cybersecurity, intelligence analysis, and global security, with regional focus on the Middle East and Africa.
At UT, Catherine has gained experience writing reports on developing national security issues with the Intelligence Studies Project’s Tearline program and in her capacity as Junior OSINT Analyst for UT’s ISO. She also enjoys her role as faculty liaison for the IRG Council, where she works with students and faculty to support programming on global security and policy. Catherine is a Texas Intelligence Academy alumna and has studied international relations abroad at the University of Edinburgh, with plans to continue her global studies this summer through a cognitive neuroscience program in Geneva.
