Kate Birch is a third-year dual degree graduate student at the LBJ School of Public Affairs pursuing a Master of Global Policy Studies and a Master of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Kate is also a member of the Graduate Portfolio in Security Studies Program offered by the Clements Center for National Security. During her graduate school experience, she has had the chance not only to intern for the U.S. Department of State and other Washington D.C.-based think tanks, but to intern and study abroad in the Czech Republic and Germany, respectively. As a member of the Cybersecurity Student Fellows Program, Kate aims to supplement her specializations in mis- and disinformation studies, foreign malign influence operations, and Russian foreign policy with a better understanding of other threats that exist in cyberspace. Kate aspires to one day work in the national security field in a role that enables her to utilize her regional expertise, topical areas of expertise, and hard-earned Russian language skills.
