Cyber Fellow

John Paul “JP” Cook is a second year dual degree student and Cyber Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin’s Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs and the School of Information. His primary academic interests include monitoring trends in the technology industry’s ‘Trust & Safety’ domain and how social media can be used to prosecute violations of arms control and human rights agreements. His choice of these focus areas is influenced by his military service as a Field Artillery officer and current employment as a Project Manager at Applied Information Sciences (AIS). He holds a B.A. from Virginia Tech where he majored in Political Science and double minored in Arabic Studies and Leadership Studies. As a Cyber Fellow, JP intends to advance his knowledge of technical threat intelligence and how various actors can abuse everyday platforms to pursue geopolitical aims.
