Jason Brownlee

Professor of Government

Jason Brownlee is a professor in the Department of Government, where he researches and teaches about authoritarianism and US foreign policy. He has published three books: Authoritarianism in an Age of Democratization (2007), Democracy Prevention: The Politics of the US-Egyptian Alliance (2012), and The Arab Spring: Pathways of Repression and Reform (2015, co-authored with Tarek Masoud and Andrew Reynolds). He is currently studying the breakdown of democracies in developing countries, with a regional focus on South Asia.
