In this month’s issue, ACLED discusses increased violent activity of political militias in the Central African Republic; the diversity of rebel groups in DR-Congo; the increased number of clashes between Boko Haram, government forces and vigilante militias in Nigeria; the rising number of conflicts in North African countries experiencing political change as a result of the Arab Spring; the dynamics of Al-Shabaab activity in Somalia; and the increased conflict levels and reported fatalities over the last year in South Sudan.
