Consultation Workshop on Complex Emergencies and Political Stability in Asia

Mar 31, 2015 |

The CEPSA program held a one-day consultation workshop on March 5, 2015. The workshop brought together 23 participants from the CEPSA team, other universities, and nongovernmental organizations to review research memos produced by the program’s six research teams and provide critique and feedback.

Each CEPSA research team was represented during the sessions, and external participants included leading experts from Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies, the Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED), Columbia University’s Center for International Earth Science Information Network, Development Gateway, Development Seed, Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, the Stimson Center’s Environmental Security Program, University of Maryland’s Joint Global Change Research Institute, University of North Carolina, and the World Resources Institute’s Climate and Energy Program.

The workshop gave the program research teams an opportunity to reexamine and refine program elements in light of each team’s initial research designs and findings, as well as expert external input. The discussion generated feedback on individual project design, methodology, resource allocation, and program planning—all of which positively contributed to the continued evolution and expansion of the program’s research agenda.

The research team memos prepared in advance of this workshop are available here.
