Strauss Center Director Adam Klein joined Jay Hartzell, President of the University of Texas at Austin, during a trip to Washington, D.C., on April 16, where he spoke on a panel discussing AI, national security, and University initiatives to expand the AI critical research and workforce. The panel also featured David Vanden Bout, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Craig Watkins, Executive Director of the IC2 Institute, and Samantha Shorey, Assistant Professor at the Moody College of Communication.

The panel was part of a larger visit by President Hartzell with members of Texas’ congressional delegation to seek support for the University’s AI initiatives and their importance to the future of national security, defense, and the economy in the United States.
