Asma Sifaoui is a second-year Ph.D. student in advertising at the Moody College of Communication.  Her research investigates the intersection between technology and privacy. She studies computational advertising, personalized advertising such as online profiling, and emerging technologies with a focus on privacy issues and surveillance. She has been exploring users’ understanding of privacy contracts and notices when interacting with different tech companies. Asma aims to provide practical implications that push for more data governance, algorithm transparency, and the creation of policies that safeguard users’ privacy and security.  

Asma is a Fulbright alumna. She received the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship to pursue her master’s degree at the University of Minnesota. Asma is originally from Tunisia. She pursued a BBA in Marketing and Business Analytics from Tunis Business School. Before enrolling in her master’s degree, Asma worked at Wunderman Thompson in Tunis (formerly J. Walter Thompson) as a brand analyst. Asma is fluent in Arabic, French, and English.
