Brittany Horton

Senior Research Program Coordinator

Brittany Horton currently serves as a Senior Research Program Coordinator for the Strauss Center. Prior to joining the Strauss Center team, Brittany worked in higher education in a variety of roles, most recently as Assistant Director for Online, Graduate, and International Admissions at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Her previous career was in the zoo and aquarium industry, where she specialized in training and education with a wide range of wildlife, including sea lions, giraffes, and beluga whales.

Brittany’s educational background is in the sciences and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Brittany recently earned a Master of Global Policy Studies from The LBJ School of Public Affairs, where her work focused on environmental security and countering wildlife trafficking. Brittany’s thesis project analyzed the impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative on conservation of African pangolins.
