The following report bases its findings on an original dataset of 388 cases of migrant kidnappings in Mexico from June 2006 to April 2018. It represents just under 8,000 victims and 451 individual kidnappers. The dataset allows for the analysis of trends and regional differences in migrant kidnappings, and an in-depth analysis of migrant kidnappers’ criminal modus operandi…Overall, this report offers the most comprehensive and nuanced analysis of migrant kidnappings to date and finds that geography plays a critical role in understanding the operational structures of migrant kidnapping throughout Mexico.
